The Dining Room Table Reveal {lots of pictures!}

I finally have my camera back! Here are a bunch of before, during and after pictures of our big dining room table project. I started out editing the photos, but that was taking too long, so here they are "in the raw."

Below is a picture right after we got it (well, after I had disinfected it!)

(I am going to try to refrain from obvious picture captions like... "the chairs")

Here are a bunch of pictures of the process.

Jeff bought some nice pine boards and made the tabletop - picnic table style.

He sanded everything, rounded all the edges, and did some minor distressing on the top side of the table.

We used the same Minwax wood stain (Dark Walnut) as we did on the fireplace mantle. (Click here for the post on the mantle)

The underside of the table...doesn't it look pretty? :)

Sanding down the table base.

Close-up of one of the legs.

Trying to sand down the black chair that had multiple layers of paint. Ugh.
I had never done a project like this before, so this was definitely a learning time for me!

Blurry picture of my amazing hubby hard at work. He was putting in a new middle beam to make the tressle wider in order to support the bigger tabletop.

He had to make cutouts for the middle beam to pass through the supporting legs. Well, he didn't have to, I just wanted it that way.

First layer of paint.

Then came all the distressing. Once again, this was a learning experience for me!

Here is it all gussied up for the picture.
(I still need to finish the bench...I can't decide if I want to reupholster the seat or buy and refinish a piece of wood.)

The underside even looks purty :)
