Sparkling Cherry Limeade {Pictures & Recipe}

I hope you had a wonderful time celebrating the Fourth of July! Jeff and I had a fun time watching fireworks on Tuesday night from our roof.

It was a fun, impromptu idea...I love it when we can do things like that together.

Wednesday morning/afternoon we just relaxed and Jeff and I went on a run together. {{{{side track}}}} Do you remember in this post I talked about how I thought my body wasn't cut out to be a runner? Well, I have told myself that for a l-o-n-g time {way too much negative self-talk going on!!!}. Jeff and I talked about it, and he encouraged me to give running another try. So, I started the Couch to 5K program so that it would force me to start slow and Jeff helped me with my form. Turns out, I CAN run! I finished the program last week! Running is such a mental game...I think that's what makes finishing a run so rewarding. It's not me versus anyone else. It's a competition with myself. I think that's how everyone {especially us women!} should look at our bodies and our health. We cannot compare ourselves with others! I'm feeling another blog post coming on! OK where was I??? That's right...

...Fourth of July.

A lovely dinner party with friends.

Our hostess, Marybeth.

I was in charge of desert {strawberry pretzel salad}. Marybeth took these pictures.

Isn't she a fabulous photographer? Make sure you go over to her blog and check out her post on the Fourth for more pictures!

I also made sparkling cherry limeade {once again, photography by Marybeth}. I got the recipe from the latest issue of Southern Living Magazine.

It is festive and colorful...

...and so easy to make. Oh and very yummy too!

  • Sparkling Cherry Limeade

  • Ingredients
  • lime, cut into wedges (optional)
  • Margarita salt (optional)
  • (12-oz.) can frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
  • 3 1/2 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup liquid from jarred red maraschino cherries
  • 2 cups sparkling water
  • Garnishes: lime slices, maraschino cherries
  1. Preparation
  2. 1. Rub rims of 8 chilled glasses with lime wedges, and dip rims in salt to coat, if desired.
  3. 2. Stir together limeade concentrate and 3 1/2 cups cold water; add liquid from maraschino cherries.
  4. 3. Fill prepared glasses with ice. Pour limeade mixture into glasses, filling each two-thirds full; add sparkling water to fill.

Enjoy!
