Day #3: Chalkboard Art

Welcome to day #3 of the "12 Days of a DIY Christmas" series and link party! You can find the earlier posts in the series here:

I really have quite a thing for chalkboards lately. I love to make them and create fun graphics. Here is the new art design I drew recently for my gallery wall.

It's far from perfect...I could probably tweak it all day, but I made myself stop.  I'm really not that original when it comes to my chalkboards. I got my idea from this picture:
{I can't find the original source! If you know, please let me know!}

So, you see I didn't stray too much from this design! I am always pinning quotes and fun graphics on Pinterest

And here are the materials that I use when I'm creating chalkboard art:
Of course you'll need a chalkboard! I will be showing you how I make my own chalkboards later on in the series.
I can't remember where I read this tip, but it helps so much to either keep the chalkboard wet {damp} or to dip your chalk in water. The chalk will apply kind of faded, but will brighten as it dries.

If I am doing a large piece like this one, I will draw grid lines to help keep things level and even. I come back through with wet q-tips or a rag to clean things up.
I think what helped me take my time with these chalkboards is changing my perspective. I view it as drawing a picture versus writing letters. I don't know if that makes any sense, but it helps me not get so impatient with myself.

Are you ready to join the link party? Remember: Any Christmas related blog post is game {recipes, crafts, Christmas family photos, family traditions, etc}. Be descriptive in your titles!

The rules:
1.) You may link up a different blog post once every day for a total of 12 entries.
2.) You must submit a direct link to your post...not just to your blog's homepage.
3.) Your entry/entries may be submitted anytime between now and midnight on December 12th.

Tweeting, pinning, "liking" & sharing on Facebook, instagraming, etc are not required for you to enter, but it would be awesome if you would do what you can to spread the word....whether you are entering a link or not.  Spread the love! :)

    1. I love Kristen's work! She is much better at it than I am and she designs her own templates...talented girl! Did she design the template I used? I couldn't find the source. I want to give her the credit if she did! Thanks for stopping by, Kristin! And thank you for linking up! I love how supportive you have been!
